Who We Are The auxiliary known as the National Council of Urban League Guilds has been an integral part of the National Urban League and its local affiliates since 1946. The Guild was established to act as a public relations link to enhance the local affiliates in program implementation and financial support. There are more than 100 chartered Guilds who are members of the National Council of Urban League Guilds. Origin of the Dallas Guild The Urban League Guild of Greater Dallas & North Central Texas was chartered July 30, 1972 by the former Executive Director of the National Urban League, Vernon Jordan, and the former Executive Director of the Dallas Urban League, Roosevelt Johnson. The charter members were a distinguished group of individuals who were dedicated to the community and the Urban League Movement. Today, the presence of the Guild is felt in all areas of the community through their programs, administrative tasks and involvement. The membership continues to grow and with the wealth of resources at their disposal the Guild will continue to support the Dallas affiliate with new awareness and positive programs. Mission Statement The Mission of the Urban League Guild of Greater Dallas & North Central Texas is to support the local affiliate by strengthening its presence in the community through volunteer service and fundraising. Vision Statement The Guild provides quality support utilizing all of its resources. To reach this goal, the Guild fosters the TEAM concept while developing leaders. Our work environment consists of open communication, trust, respect, commitment, loyalty, productivity, cooperation and support. Our service delivery is result oriented providing quality service to internal (Urban League) and external (community) recipients.
